Reader Problems Booktag!

Hello everyone,

It's that time again! It's Wednesday, so that means I'm here to do a book tag! This time it's the Reader Problems tag.

Let's dive straight in!

Question number 1: You have 20,000 books on your TBR. How in the world do you decide what to read next?
True story. How do we decide what we read, though? Honestly, sometimes I get so overwhelmed. When I finish a book and think of all the possibilities of what I could read next... Gosh. Usually I create a top 5, then I narrow it down to 3, then to 2, and then I normally look up the ratings on GoodReads. Most of the time, one book has a higher rating than the other, and then I get that feeling of disappointment, and I realise that I knew I wanted to read the other book all along. Yea it's a pretty weird way of picking a book, I'll admit that.

This isn't always how it goes though. Sometimes, I just feel like reading a certain book and then that's what I'll do.. It can be as simple as that.
Question number 2: You’re halfway through a book and you’re just not loving it. Do you quit or are you committed?
Quit!! Just DNF the thing. As you might have read in my Bookish Resolutions, this is one of my resolutions. If I don't enjoy reading a book, I'll just put it down and read something I might or will enjoy, like a sequel to a series I already love, or a book I've been excited about. Why would I voluntarily read something I dislike when I could be reading my next favourite thing ever?

Question number 3: The end of the year is coming and you’re so close, but so far away on your Goodreads reading challenge. Do you try to catch up and how?
I'd like to think that I'd be okay with however many books I read in a year. If, however, I do feel the need to catch up, I would just read books that I'm fairly certain I'll like. Right now, I'd pick up Gathering Darkness, and Ruin and Rising, and books like that. When I enjoy a book, I read it so much faster than when I don't, so reading those books would certainly increase my chances of making my goal.
Question number 4: The covers of a series you love do. not. match. How do you cope?
I will someday buy matching covers if I do really love the series that much. End of story.
It's a very shallow thing to admit, but I just love the whole matchy-matchy thing. It looks nice and it makes me happy when I look at it.

Question number 5: Every one and their mother loves a book you really don’t like. Who do you bond with over shared feelings?
Well recently I've found out more people didn't like Allegiant or the Maze Runner, but before I actually knew that I would just talk about it with my friend Bo. We happen to have quite a similar taste most of the time, so that's nice when it comes to books we love or absolutely hate.

Question number 6: You’re reading a book and you are about to start crying in public. How do you deal?
I will just cry. I think I could manage crying a beautiful, single tear. One that'd make people think "Oh, look, she's so engrossed in her book, how wonderfully magical.", instead of breaking down sobbing where people would just back away slowly from the crazy girl who's crying on the floor.

Question number 7: A sequel of a book you loved just came out, but you’ve forgotten a lot from the previous novel. Will you re-read the book? Skip the sequel? Try to find a synopsis on Goodreads? Cry in frustration?!?!?!?
Okay, so I loved(!) the previous book right? Why would I want to skip the sequel then? I also wouldn't cry because this can be solved so easily. Since I don't reread many books that aren't Harry Potter, I'd most likely read the synopsis. But not really, I'd probably look up complete plot summaries and spoilery reviews. I've already read the book, I already  know these things anyway, and this way I can move on to the new book quicker.
Question number 8: You do not want anyone. ANYONE. borrowing your books. How do you politely tell people nope when they ask?
I simply tell people that my books mean a lot to me and that I try really hard to keep them in good condition. Usually people understand this. If they wouldn't, I would just tell them that 'no means no'. If people don't accept my way of handling my own personal belongings because they don't like the answer, then they can politely F off :)

Question number 9: Reading ADD. You’ve picked up and put down 5 books in the last month. How do you get over your reading slump?
Watch some Netflix, play some videogames, do some other things that don't involve reading, and then one day, a book will speak to me on a spiritual level and tell me it's time again. And then I'll read.
If I keep forcing myself to read, the slump will just keep going so much longer than when I'd allow myself to take a break. Since I read for fun, I don't want to put pressure on it.

Question number 10: There are so many new books coming out that you’re dying to read! How many do you actually buy?
That depends. Can I afford it at that time, and how big is my TBR? Because I currently think it'd be better if I just read what I already own, instead of buy books that are coming out soon.

                                                           My current TBR Top 5

Question number 11: After you’ve bought the new books you can’t wait to get to, how long do they sit on your shelf before you get to them?
This also depends. It depends on what I'm reading at the time, how busy I am, how stressed I am, all kind of different things. I usually read them within a few months, which I still think is reasonable for me.

That's it for today, book lovers! I'll be back soon with my February wrap-up and March TBR!

Love,

Sharon
